We are continually adding hosts to the site, but are not yet everywhere! To get started, we are focussing on housing during tournaments. So if you think there might be something near a tournament, try entering the state rather than the city so you will see homes nearby, as well.

There is no cost for the accommodations (and no compensation for hosting). There is a $20 per booking fee (regardless of how many nights booked at on location). For every time you host someone, you receive a credit for one booking fee. When you book, it will show a $20 fee that will be reduced by your credits when you check out.

It is against our terms to solicit money for accommodations. It is ok, however, to offer to take your host out to dinner, or to cook a meal in their home if permitted, or to bring a small souvenir or thank you gift.

Pickleball Guesthouses was created to help foster community and pickleball playing, and to help make travel more affordable. 

The core value is the idea of respect. The success of this site is based on the idea that we respect one another (and one another's property), and that we enter new relationships with good intent and kindness.

Another core idea is the value of community, both within the pickleball community and among the other communities we are part of. An essential part of the site is the opportunitiy to share your stories of pickleball travel and the good causes you support as you journey through your lives. If you feel inclined, you can contribute to the causes that your fellow travelers share on the site, and you can encourage others to support the causes that are important to you. 

Once the running costs of the site are covered through the booking fees, a portion of the proceeds will be donated to the causes shared on the site. Giving back to the communities that sustain us is the final main value behind Pickleball Guesthouses.

At Pickleballguesthouses, we want to make our community as secure as possible for everyone. That’s why, before booking or listing a home or experience, all guests and hosts must provide a profile photo and confirm their phone number. We also also ask for a government ID. As explained below, this helps us keep Pickleballguesthouses secure, fight fraud, and more—and it’s something you’ll only have to do once.

How it works

When you register, you will be asked to upload a profile picture and an ID.

1. Add a profile picture (if you haven’t added one already)


2. Add a photo of a government-issued ID (driver’s license, passport, visa, etc.) This is optional, but recommended.

You have 3 options for adding your ID:

• Take a photo of your ID using your phone


• Take a photo using your computer’s or mobile device’s web camera


• Upload an existing photo of your ID

Completing this process isn’t an endorsement of any host or guest, a guarantee of someone’s identity, or an assurance that interacting with them will be safe. Always use your own best judgment, and follow our safety tips for both guests and hosts.

Your ID will never be shared with a host or anyone else who uses Pickleballguesthouses.

If you need to come back and finish adding your ID later, that’s fine. Just go back to your profile and you can pick up where you left off.

Types of ID

Depending on your location and what country you’re from, you may be able to add one of the following types of government ID:

• Driver’s license


• Passport


• Visa


• National identity card

It should be an official government-issued ID—not an ID for a school, library, gym, etc.—that also includes a photo of you. If you add a passport, make sure the photo includes the numbers located at the bottom of the page with your picture.

What gets shared with your host

If you’re asked for a government ID, the following may be shared with your host:

• The first name on your ID


• Whether you’re over or under 25 years old


• Whether your ID has been successfully added


• Your profile photo and profile name

The following will never be shared with your host or anyone else who uses Pickleballguesthouses:

• The photo of your ID

Privacy

We take privacy seriously. The information you provide during the process of adding your government ID is governed by our Privacy Policy and sent to us and our third-party partners using SSL—the same secure encryption that websites use to transmit credit card numbers. Our third-party partners handle this info according to our Privacy Policy.

Storing and removing the photo of your ID

The storage of your government ID photo is governed by our Privacy Policy, which describes our efforts to protect your information. 

Other ways ID info may be used

When you and other guests and hosts provide a government ID it builds trust in the Pickleballguesthouses community. It also helps us keep Pickleballguesthouses secure, fight fraud, and more. There are a few ways that information from an ID may be used to do this.

First, here at Pickleballguesthouses, we may use the information from an ID to better protect all guests and hosts. An ID helps us to check that everyone is who they say they are—and we can therefore do an even better job of keeping fraudulent users away from Pickleballguesthouses. We can also keep accounts more secure and better determine that everyone who uses Pickleballguesthouses is over 18 years old.

Additionally, where permitted by applicable law, we may provide information from an ID, such as a full name, address, and date of birth, to our service providers to run background checks against public records for criminal convictions and sex offender registrations. For now, these checks are limited to users in the United States. While we believe these checks help us deter fraud and misuse of our services, they don’t guarantee that interactions with people who book through Pickleballguesthouses will be safe or problem-free. 

Also, where permitted by applicable law, we may provide certain information from an ID to banks and other financial institutions (which helps them enforce various tax, anti-money laundering, and sanctions laws), as well as to law enforcement agencies (who may be conducting investigations requiring Pickleballguesthouses’ involvement).

Our goal is to work closely with these organizations and comply with our legal obligations, while also ensuring the respect, privacy, and security of everyone who uses Pickleballguesthouses.

Pickleball Guesthouses matches hosts and guests for overnight accommodations and pickleball playing time. Obviously, it will only work if people are willing ot open up their homes, including you! When you register your home, you can enter the period where your home is available and/or black out periods when it is not available. Before you commit to hosting, you have an opportunity to review the guest (to ensure the dates are ok, to see if there is a good track record, or it looks like a good fit) and agree or not agree to host. 

To encourage people to host, there is a nominal $20 booking fee each time you book accommodations. Each time you host, you receive credit good for one free-free stay as a guest. While there is no monetary compensation for hosting, you will get to meet new pickleball players and can use your earned credits to stay free as you travel.  This can save you hundreds of dollards in travel costs. The pickleball community is a wonderful group. By hosting, you become an even more integral part of the group!
